San Francisco boasts world renowned gourmands and is a haven for cultures and cuisines from around the globe. With more than 4,000 restaurants and drinking establishments in the City, it has the second highest such concentration per capita in the country. In 2008, San Francisco was named America's Best City for Dining Out by Bon Appétit magazine—a title San Francisco has consecutively garnered since its inception 10 years ago. The City is also is home to Craig Stoll, chef and co-owner of Delfina restaurant, who was awarded the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef in California and Hawaii in 2008. San Francisco's viniculture thrives on award-winning wines from the nearby Napa and Sonoma valleys, which account for 90% of the wine production in North America.
