Clean Technology Infrastructure Under Development
- The new "Green Power Community" will be San Francisco's first neighborhood powered entirely by clean, renewable energy. The 93-acre parcel at a site of the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard will deliver reliable, 100% renewable and cost-competitive power to more than 1,600 new residential units and 300,000 square feet of commercial and retail space.
- 18,500-square-foot photovoltaic solar power system on the rooftop of Recycle Central at Pier 96—the new 245-kilowatt solar array will generate the equivalent energy demand of more than 100 homes and help off-set 30% of the 200,000-square-foot recycling facility’s electricity needs.
- The Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant is the City's largest wastewater treatment facility. Covering 20,000 square feet, this 255-kilowatt solar array will compliment the City's largest installation at the Moscone Center.
- The North Point Wastewater Treatment Plant’s $2.4 million solar installation adjacent to Pier 39 covers two separate rooftops near the facility and sources 241 kilowatts of power assisting in the treatment of waste water and storm water. The solar system was designed to resist corrosion from salt in the air and other harsh environmental factors along the Bay.
