Venture Dollars & Deal Volume Up in 2011
The amount of venture dollars invested in 2011 represented the third highest annual investment total in the past ten years, according to the report. Deal volume also rose 4 percent, with 3,673 transactions logged.
The software industry was the single largest investment sector for the year, with dollars rising 38 percent to $6.7 billion, which was invested into 1,004 deals, a 7 percent rise in volume over the prior year.
