SF economic update

California jobless rate increases

California’s unemployment inched to an all-time high of 12.6 percent in March even as employers added jobs.

The state economy added 4,200 jobs, with manufacturing, education, health care and hospitality all showing increases. But that gain was swamped by 117,000 Californians who entered the work force. Analysts believe many are jobless workers who had given up employment searches but have been lured back into the job market by signs of economic recovery.
