Salesforce.com buys Land for new Corporate Campus

The $278 million land deal will allow Salesforce to build a 2 million-square-foot corporate campus over roughly the next decade, nearly quadruple the amount of space it currently occupies in San Francisco.

"We are excited to start work on building a new San Francisco global headquarters," Benioff, the chief executive of the company, said in a statement. "This new home for Salesforce.com will provide an innovative, dynamic environment for our future growth."

If built today, the facility would represent the second-biggest private company presence in San Francisco, after Wells Fargo & Co., which occupies around 3 million square feet.
