California jobless figure holds steady

California’s unemployment rate remained stubbornly stuck at 12.5 percent in February as the Golden State shed another 20,400 jobs.

Bay Area counties continue to outperform the state, all posting lower-than-average unemploylment rates: Marin, at 8.4 percent, was second-lowest in the state. Others in the region: Alameda, 11.5 percent; Contra Costa, 11.7 percent; San Francisco, 9.9 percent; and San Mateo, 9.4 percent.
