Bay Area sales tax slides
The portion of sales taxes that California sends to local jurisdictions averaged $64,328,146 a month in the first quarter for Bay Area cities and counties from Santa Clara County in the south the Napa County in the north.
That compares with $67,723,772 monthly average sent to Bay Area cities and counties in the three months ended in February and $68,833,463 average in the three months ended in March 2009.
San Francisco got a monthly average of $8,119,129 in the first quarter, about 6 percent less than in the month-earlier period and 5 percent less than the three months a year earlier.
