Wells closes or renames its Wachovia outlets

Wells Fargo & Co. that acquired Wachovia at the end of 2008 will close 101 Wachovia branches and 21 its own locations statewide and convert some of them to Wells Fargo offices in April.  65 locations will be added statewide giving more than 1,000 branches and 3,200 ATMs in California.  In the nine-county Bay Area, Wells Fargo will close 22 Wachovia outlets and eight Wells Fargo branches that will result in having 264 banking locations in the region.
