UCSF leads pediatric immune-disorder research group

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is leading a new research to study severe, life-threatening pediatric immune disorders funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH).  The common goals of this study are to improve the diagnosis, treatment and survival rates for people with immune deficiencies.  The study group that involves 13 research centers throughout the nation has a $6.25 million to use for the next five years receiving $1.25 million each year from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the unit of NIH.  Currently the centers treat at least 60 percent of patients with primary immunodeficiencies in North America.
