SF unemployment at 9.9 in October

Unemployment rate in San Francisco increased to 9.9 percent in October, up 0.1 percent from a revised 9.8 percent in September, according to Employment Development Department. statistics released today.  California's unemployment rate for the same period was 12.3% compared to the National rate at 10.2%.  San Francisco's unemployment rate is the eighth lowest in the state after Marin at 8.1%, Napa at 9% and San Mateo at 9.1%.  

Other Bay Area county unemployment rates are as follow: Sonoma 10.1%, Santa Clara 11.9%, Solano 12%, Alameda 11.5%, and Contra Costa 11.5%.

Additional California unemployment rates: Los Angeles and Sacramento 12.6%, and San Diego 10.5%.
