Program helps jobless parents

There is a new program called Jobs Now that uses stimulus funds to help parents out of work to find an employment. If private or nonprofit employers hire San Francisco residents who meets certain criteria, the employers will receive a 100 percent wage subsidy.  A future employed person must:

  • live in San Francisco,
  • have at least one minor child,
  • be unemployed,
  • meet household income requirements.

The program is available by September 2010 and a person can work for an employer in another city or county.

More information for Bay Area employers, San Francisco residents and their eligibility, and others who want to take part of this program is available at www.sfhsa.org or (877) 562-1669.
