Good news for home prices 

The second straight monthly gain was recorded in the Bay Area home prices. The median price for the Bay Area that includes nine counties reached $337,000 in May, up 9.6 percent from April, and down 37.1 percent from a year ago. There were total of 5,655 resale houses, which was up 27.6 percent from last year.  

The median price for the Bay Area counties are as follows: Alameda- $330,000, Contra Costa- $227,000, Marin- $712,000, Napa- $350,000, San Francisco- $682,000, San Mateo- $601,000, Santa Clara- $475,000, and Solano- $321,000.
