Geron inks stem-cell deal with GE Healthcare

Menlo Park-based Geron Corp. and the United Kingdom-based GE Healthcare with a Fairfield, Conn. unit of General Electric Co. will develop together product based on human embryonic stem cell lines to be able to spot toxicity problems with drugs in the process of their development rather than in the process of human testing. Geron licenses the human embryonic stem cell lines from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. The first product is planned to be ready by early 2010.
