Five Bay Area solar companies awarded
Department of Energy (DOE) awarded five Bay Area solar businesses a total amount of $9.26 million. The award went to Sierra Solar Power (Fremont-based) that received $3 million, Silicon Genesis Corp.- $3 million, XeroCoat (Redwood City)- $2.96 million, Palo Alto Research Center Inc.- $150,000, and Solar Red (San Jose-based)- $150,000. These companies received funds for "addressing the photovoltaic supply chain and cross-cutting technologies."
