Crystal Cruises back to SF home port in 2011

Crystal Cruises announced today that they are returning to San Francisco in 2011.  The Japanese-owned cruises line will make San Francisco the home port for expeditions to Alaska, The Panama Canal, and New York.

The Port of San Francisco has already 9 cruise lines, 60 cruise ship calls and 200,000 related guests each year.  Additionally, there are plans to finish a new cruise ship terminal at Pier 27 that is located at the foot of Telegraph Hill by 2013.

According to the Port Executive Director Monique Moyer, the continuity of a home-port ship for the summer season on the San Francisco waterfront means a lot for the local economy, both in terms of tourism and jobs for ship support workers.
