Two Reports

Feds unveil new stimulus data

Recipients of federal stimulus dollars say the money either has created or will allow them to create 71,000 jobs in California, according to fourth quarter data provided this week by the federal government.

 

California cuts jobs in January

Employers in California said they would cut 10,528 jobs in January, making the state No. 4 on a list of most layoffs in a report from Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

California came in behind New York (17,060), Arkansas (12,700) and Delaware (10,784).

Retail led the list of industries shedding jobs with Telecom and drug companies following.  

In January 2009, California employers announced 14,883 job cuts.
