Bay Area home sales mixed
In August, Bay Area home sales fell compared with the previous month though increased from August 2008. Overall, the median sale price dropped in the Bay Area. According to MDA DataQuick, home sales went down 14.3 percent from July and went up 4 percent from August 2008. The Bay Area median price fell 8.9 percent from July and 19.5 percent from August 2008.
The median price for the Bay Area counties is as follows: San Francisco- $635,000, Alameda- $340,000, Contra Costa- $261,500, Marin- $713,000, and San Mateo- $559,900.
