A good year for SF tourism
2008 was record year for tourism
Last year was a good year for tourism in San Francisco according to new San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau statistics. The number of tourists who visited the city increased from 16.1 million in 2007 to 16.4 million in 2008. Also visitors left more money in the city $8.4 billion compared to the previous year $8.1 billion.
Although the numbers for tourism in San Francisco hit the record in 2008, the city is prepared that the similar situation will not happen this year because of the recession. Though, the city plans to spend more money on marketing efforts including particularly electronic ways of advertising the city like Facebook or Twitter.
