China Desk
Building on San Francisco's deep cultural and economic ties with China, the SFCED and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce are partnering with the Mayor's Office of Economic and Workforce Development (MOEWD) to create a "China Desk" designed to strengthen and maximize economic development opportunities. The ideal plan includes the establishment of a permanent office in Shanghai headed by a San Franciscan liaison to monitor and stimulate dialogue and negotiation between Chinese and San Francisco Business's. During the next three months this effort will continue to build as the SFCED and MOEWD expand the collaboration and outreach efforts to the business community for ideas and support. This effort will culminate in late September when Mayor Newsom and a local delegation will be in Shanghai to open an office that will focus on lead generation and identifying in-bound business opportunities for San Francisco.
